For Nigerian singer and songwriter Sedaze, music has always been more than entertainment. It is an avenue for expression, connection and finding purpose. That philosophy takes centre stage on his forthcoming four-track EP, BLACK SENSATION.
Born David Adesanya in Ogun State, Sedaze’s journey began in the church, where singing in the choir and participating in musical competitions helped him discover his passion for music.
Years later, after balancing his creative ambitions with academic pursuits at the University of Lagos and the University of Stirling, he continues to build his identity as an independent artist driven by consistency and belief in his craft.
His latest project reflects that journey through four records that explore the complexities of love, relationships, faith and personal growth.
Led by Aayanfe, a playful and romantic celebration of attraction, the EP moves into nostalgic territory with ‘Ranti’, a heartfelt recollection of the moment a special connection began.
‘Let Me Go’ offers a more vulnerable perspective, confronting the emotional weight of toxic relationships and the courage required to walk away.
The final track, ‘O.Y.O (On Your Own)’, brings the project to an uplifting close, combining heartfelt prayers for a better future with an infectious, celebratory sound. It captures the importance of faith, resilience and maintaining hope through life’s uncertainties.
Across the project, Sedaze blends Afrobeats, Afropop and Afrosoul, incorporating Yoruba and pidgin English expressions to deliver music that feels personal while remaining relatable.
With this release, Sedaze invites listeners into his world, offering four different perspectives on life, love and the journey towards becoming a better version of oneself.
