The BreakOutOfTheMonth playlist is a monthly playlist that focuses on promoting exceptionally gifted youngsters. The BOOTM playlist is one of TAG’s many means for promoting stars. After the long hiatus, The Artiste Guide is officially relaunching the monthly playlist and we’re kicking it off with these amazing songs from Artistes we know you’d love.
Playlist theme: Melodies from within
1. Go lo – OG Bxby
A perfect start to a beautiful listening experience, ‘Go Lo’ by OG Bxby is a song filled with beautiful melodies and catchy lyrics. It’s the type of song that’d be an instant hit if it was made my a mainstream Artiste.
2. Polo – kemuel
Just when you think the playlist can not keep the energy it introduced you to, it hits you with another perfect song. Polo by Kemuel is a song that’s easy to connect with as the writing behind it is insanely good. The catchiness of the hook will get you singing back to it before you know it.
3. Rolling Dollar – Chemmie
Chemmie with her Niniola esque voice and delivery did not fail to blow our mind on this song as she bled out the amapiano instrumental. A proper new school owambe party banger. It’s a song that’ll get you grooving at first listen.
4. Stamina – Gochi
Right off the bat, you are captivated by the voice and delivery as the singer spares no time as he attacks us with falsettos before getting right into the song at the 11th second. An hook that’s easy to remember and a perfect lacing of beautifully written rap verses to complement it makes this such a great song. The cohesiveness between the message of the singer and rapper is another plus.
5. Only You – Tite Tunez
Super talented producer, Tite Tunez enlists the super vocalist, Nikky Starr to take us on a surreal nostalgic Afrobeat ride. I don’t know why but this song reminds me of soundtracks used in Yoruba movies I used to love when I was growing up. With a story to tell and a sprinkle of English on a proper Yoruba song. A beautiful experience for real.
6. Blessings – Only1promzy
This one is for all the lovers of Afro Adura out there. A song that preaches the importance of patience and waiting on one’s God appointed time while grinding and hustling our way through life. It’s a beautiful song especially for those that understand the language but even if you do not, you can feel the emotion through the melodies.
7. Puul – Lasmid
Lasmid made baby making music with his unique voice and creative pronunciations. On the second verse, he did a crazy thing with the falsetto he carried it with and it was perfect.
8. Agbalagbi – OluwaMillar
For the lovers of afrodrill. For the lovers of indigenous rap music. Agbalagbi is a song for agbas proper. Falz said, “flow’s sicker than person way get many disease.” I think OluwaMillar should’ve said “flow’s sicker than person way dey terminally ill cause he made a killing with it. From the 01:08 mark, he eased into a diabolical run of literal breathtaking flows. The chorus is catchy and the verse is filled with quotables.
9. Beauty is what you call it – Nathan Walid
Filled with the oomz-iness that the Americans love so much at their parties, Nathan Walid seems to be catering for an alternative audience with this track. A beautiful chorus and a well written composition, this song is certain to catch your attention if you’re a lover of alternative pop music.
10. Bicycle Rider – Dayz ii
A sultry song for those that do not joke about innuendos, Dayz ii spares not a single second as he starts the song off with the catchiest hook, and progresses into another catchy chorus before glazing the song with a bouncy rap verse. Sampling the viral “raise am, raise am” sound, the song gives off a fun listening experience.
11. 234 – Kemuel
234 reminds me of Wande Coal’s Again and the justice Kemuel did on it is immaculate. As usual, his pen is as coordinated and pure as always and the delivery is impeccable.
12. Instagram – Muyeez
Instagram feels like a song made by two grown mainstream Artistes but Muyeez is a 16 years old popstar. A talented kid that stubbornly stood his ground with his label boss on this track and refused to be bodied. Instagram is even more amazing when you think of all the factors.
13. I no remember – Charis Daniel
Charis gives a us a different feeling with his flow on this one. The delivery on the chorus is an interesting one that’s sure to keep you listening. A little improvement in the mix and this would be a perfect song.
14. See you soon – Adam Srae
Adam is taking us on a song writing class with this one as he paints us an intrinsic picture with the words he sings. For the fans of music that are enthralled by lyricism and delivery that carry the intended emotion of the Artiste. See you soon is a beautifully written record performed by who knows how to emote properly.
15. Lost time – Tiwa Savage
The instrumental could not get any better and number one African bad gyal, Tiwa Savage did a proper felony with the way she killed it. From her entry to the way she rode the beat and the catchiness of the song, everything reeks of perfection.
From The first track to the very last track, the playlist offers you an experience that’s impossible to not love.
